Goodman Allen Donnelly PLLC has an immediate opening in our Glen Allen office for an experienced legal assistant/paralegal to support our Healthcare and Board of Medicine team. The qualified candidate must have a minimum of 3-5 years of law firm experience and should be well versed in supporting litigation practices.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook as well as have experience with client billing and time entry. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with a proven ability to multi-task as well as prioritize competing deadlines. Strong interpersonal, communication, and proofreading skills are required.

Veterans Benefit Group – Associate Attorney

The Law Firm of Goodman Allen Donnelly is seeking an associate attorney to join the firm’s veterans benefits practice group in the Charlottesville office.
This attorney will represent veterans and their dependents in claims for disability and other benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs, including the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Applicants should have a strong interest in helping disabled veterans, with preference given to those with law school clinical experience, and/or a history of representing veterans. The position requires excellent writing, client communication, oral advocacy and analytical skills. Candidates must be organized and have the ability to manage a large caseload and a desire to work in a team environment.

Veterans Benefits Group – Case Manager 

Join our team as a Case Manager with the firm’s Veterans Benefits Group in the Charlottesville office, assisting attorneys in providing legal services to veterans. Collaborate with our Lead Case Manager and Vet Team Administrator to ensure seamless case management. Responsibilities include maintaining client contact, liaising with Veterans Affairs (VA), drafting documents, and updating case files. Utilize Case Management Pro (CMP) software and quick submit processes with VA. Attend department meetings to discuss case status and provide updates. Requirements:

  • Post-High-School education or equivalent
  • Experience in a professional services organization

Veteran Benefits Group – Jr. Case Manager or Paralegal 

Responsible for working with the Attorneys or Senior Case Manager to assist in implementing, updating, and reporting on litigation plan for the high volume Veteran Benefits Practice. Key skills required for this position are organization, attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Attorneys or Senior Case Manager with implementing litigation plan.
  • Contact Clients and VA to obtain evidence.
  • Update tasks and task deadlines as information/evidence is obtained.
  • Update Clients on case status.
  • Follow-up with and ensure VA completes required tasks.
  • Draft simple letters and correspondence.
  • Locate, copy, and scan documents, as necessary.
  • Schedule attorney calls with Clients.
  • Communicate with 3rd parties to develop evidence as directed by Attorney/Senior Case Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Basic English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of the use of the personal computer and software programs.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and staff.
  • Ability to communicate in a timely and effective manner with clients and staff.
