Our trademark attorneys offer a unique blend of experience bringing together insight gained as in-house counsel at the USPTO with years in private practice representing clients in all aspects of trademark law, including the adoption and use of trademarks, the acquisition and licensing of rights, and monitoring and enforcing those rights.

Counseling Clients

Goodman Allen Donnelly represents clients in the computer and information technology, health care, food and beverage distribution, consumer products and transportation industries. We recognize the diversity of needs based on the particular industry and customize our services to meet client demands. Whether it’s counseling clients on their use of social media to optimize market share, expanding their trademark rights internationally to compete in the global marketplace, or monitoring competitive activity to protect and enforce their rights in e-commerce, our goal is to determine the best strategy to maximize and protect our clients’ business interest, brand recognition and goodwill.

Obtaining Trademark Protection

We counsel clients on the availability and registrability of trademarks, trade names, logos and domain names and represent clients in every aspect of the trademark registration process, including preparing and filing applications, responding to Office actions, handling appeals and oppositions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and petitioning the Director of the USPTO. We also manage post registration filings and activities and advise trademark owners in foreign filing options.

Enforcement and Transactional Matters

Our attorneys assist clients in the sale, assignment and acquisition of trademarks. We draft and review documents in association with the transfer of intellectual property rights, including licensing and assignment agreements. We also offer monitoring services to track competitive and infringing activities and take action to enforce client’s rights when trademark infringement has occurred.
