Goodman Allen Donnelly is pleased to announce that Joseph R. Pope has joined the firm as Principal in the firm’s Richmond office. An experienced litigator, his practice will focus on appellate law, bankruptcy and creditors rights, constitutional law, complex commercial and business litigation, intellectual property, products liability, and criminal law. His arrival reflects the firm’s expanding defense litigation capacity and adds new practice areas to the firm’s range of services.
Joseph has authored numerous briefs and motions in high-stakes litigation involving complex questions of law, including cases before the United States Supreme Court, federal circuit courts and state appellate courts. He has argued numerous appeals before federal circuit courts and state appellate courts and has authored a number of amicus briefs filed in federal and state courts across the country. He has represented clients in shareholder disputes, business tort actions, defamation and First Amendment claims, section 1983 and constitutional tort claims, actions brought under various consumer protection statutes (including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and Virginia Consumer Protection Act), as well as claims filed under the Virginia Business Conspiracy Act.
A graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law, Mr. Pope had the extraordinary honor of clerking for the Honorable Gerald B. Tjoflat of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
