Mr. Chapman comes to Goodman Allen & Filetti from the United States Marine Corps where he was a Judge Advocate and served as a criminal defense attorney, operational law attorney, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. His military service includes a tour of duty in Kajaki and Sangin, Afghanistan, with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment. He represented clients at courts-martial, as well as grand jury investigations/Article 32 Investigations, pretrial confinement hearings, sentencing hearings, motions hearings and administrative separations.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Chapman has devoted much of his time to charitable work. He served for a year with AmeriCorps racking up over 1,400 hours of community service building wheelchair ramps and raising awareness about volunteering. Mr. Chapman also served as the Spokesperson and Campaign Coordinator for the Vanderbilt University Community Giving Campaign where he contributed to the effort to raise the most donations for local charities in Campaign history. After obtaining his J.D. at Wake Forest, Mr. Chapman co-founded the Sierra Leone Watershed Project, a non-profit dedicated to bringing potable water and sanitary solutions to Sierra Leone, and will continue his dedication to non-profit and charitable organizations while at Goodman Allen & Filetti.
Mr. Chapman will focus his private practice primarily in the areas of general civil litigation, privacy law, product liability defense, federal tort claims, criminal defense, and medical malpractice defense.
